Our industry involvement and experience
Our technical skills were developed over 19 years in the aviation industry with involvement in high performance air craft in both public and private sectors.
The expertise in the specialised food and beverage industry, were obtained through our employment with Columbit Industries from 2004 – 2011 at the Cape Town Branch.
We have since become an independent company providing services on a variety of equipment types in the wine industry:
Pneumatic wine presses and other bulk handling equipment
Cross-flow filtration, bulk filters and drum filters
Destemmers and crushers
Bottling lines
Pumps of various types and other inline processing equipment
Light engineering facilities on our premises
Our competitive edge is automating machines based on a complete understanding of their function and doing retrofits on existing equipment, with in house system design and programming. This gives us a holistic approach to the service that we provide.
Our Team
André Herman
Owner
Andre received his formal training through the SAAF, as an aircraft maintenance technician and finished as the manager of training and development at 2 Air Depot in 1999. Remaining in Aviation, He went into the private sector and worked as the Technical Manager and Chief Engineer at Thunder City Entertainment’s Aircraft Restoration division.
After leaving Thunder City in 2004 He joined Columbit Industries as a technician in Process and Packaging.
In 2012 upon leaving Columbit Industries Andre established On Wine Equipment Services, where as Director he runs and manages OWES.
Ross Herman
Co-Owner
Ross joined On Wine Equipment Services in 2013 as an assistant technician. In 2016 he reached the position of Technician and manages the automation and technology division as well as the light engineering division.
He continues his studies towards his mechanical engineering qualification part-time.
